Getting into Modern for the first time can be a daunting experience. With over 15 Tier 1 and Tier 2 archetypes, dozens of lesser-known established decks, and a whole litany of niche brews, Modern is truly a treasure trove of diversity. And once you’ve selected a deck, your work has just begun. Learning how to pilot a new archetype presents challenges to format newcomers and long-time aficionados alike.
With that in mind, here at Modern Nexus we’re building a deposit of comprehensive deck primers that will serve as an introduction to each of the major archetypes. These primers will provide in-depth discussions of the ins and outs you need to know to pick up each archetype and pilot it in a competitive setting, including:
- Card choices
- In-game strategy
- Matchup analysis
- Variants and their relative strengths/weaknesses
As you can imagine, this is something of an undertaking, and we’ll need your help to pull it off! We’re looking for guest authors who have extensive experience with one or more major archetypes in Modern. If you think you have the requisite knowledge and want to share your expertise with the Modern community, contact Editor in Chief Jason Schousboe with your proposal. (All submissions are subject to review.)
As we complete these primers we’ll post links to them below. We look forward to hearing from you!
Editor’s Note: At this time the primers won’t display correctly on mobile devices. We hope to have this rectified soon.
